Heal It Right

Proper aftercare is essential for your tattoo to heal correctly and look its best for years to come.

First 24 Hours

Keep bandage on for 2-4 hours. Gently wash with unscented soap, pat dry with clean paper towel. Apply thin layer of recommended ointment.

Days 2-14

Wash 2-3 times daily with gentle soap. Apply unscented lotion when dry. Do not scratch, pick, or peel. Wear loose clothing over the area.

Weeks 2-4

Continue moisturizing as needed. Avoid direct sunlight, swimming pools, and hot tubs until fully healed. Light peeling is normal.

Long Term

Always apply SPF 30+ sunscreen to protect your tattoo from fading. Stay hydrated and moisturize regularly for vibrant, long-lasting color.

  • Swimming, hot tubs, or baths for 2 weeks
  • Direct sunlight or tanning beds
  • Scratching, picking, or peeling

Do you take walk-ins? +
Yes! We welcome walk-ins for smaller pieces based on availability. For custom work or larger pieces, we recommend booking a consultation in advance to ensure your artist has time to create the perfect design.
How much does a tattoo cost? +
Our shop minimum is $100. Hourly rates range from $150-200 depending on the artist and complexity. For large pieces, we offer day rates starting at $1,200. All custom work requires a consultation for accurate pricing.
Do I need to put down a deposit? +
Yes, we require a non-refundable deposit of $100 (or 20% for larger pieces) to book your appointment. This deposit goes toward your final tattoo cost and holds your spot on our schedule.
What forms of payment do you accept? +
We accept cash, all major credit cards, and Venmo. For large projects, we offer payment plans with 50% due at the start and 50% upon completion.
Can you cover up my old tattoo? +
We specialize in cover-ups and have transformed many old or unwanted tattoos into beautiful new pieces. Book a consultation so we can assess your existing tattoo and discuss design options.
Do you offer touch-ups? +
Yes! All tattoos done at Iron & Ink include one free touch-up within the first year. Just book a touch-up appointment and we'll make sure your ink looks perfect.
What should I do before my appointment? +
Get a good night's sleep, eat a full meal, stay hydrated, and avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment. Wear comfortable clothing that provides easy access to the area being tattooed.
Do you tattoo minors? +
We do not tattoo anyone under 18 years of age, regardless of parental consent. This is both our policy and Oregon state law.
