Common Questions
Things People Ask Us
Real answers to the questions we hear most often at the shop. If yours isn't here, just call or stop by.
Yes. We stand behind our plants with a 30-day satisfaction guarantee from the date of purchase. If a plant dies within 30 days and you followed proper care instructions, bring it back with your receipt and we'll replace it or give you store credit. We'll always ask a few questions about care conditions — not to be difficult, but because understanding what went wrong helps us help you succeed with the replacement.
Unopened products like soil, fertilizers, and garden tools can be returned within 30 days with a receipt. Pottery and planters may be returned within 14 days if unused and in original condition. We don't accept returns on plants that have been planted outdoors unless they're covered under our plant guarantee. If something was damaged or defective when you got it, we'll always make it right.
That's exactly what we're here for. When you come in, tell us about your yard conditions: how much sun it gets, whether it stays wet or drains well, how big the space is, and what you're hoping the plant will do. Our staff will narrow things down to varieties that genuinely fit. We won't sell you something that's going to struggle. It's not good for you and it's not good for our reputation.
It depends on the plant. Cool-season vegetables like lettuce, kale, and peas can go in as early as late February or early March. Most summer vegetables wait until after the last frost date, typically mid-May in the Eugene area. Perennials and shrubs can be planted in fall or early spring. We give a lot of timing guidance in our workshops, and our staff is always happy to talk through the calendar for whatever you're growing.
Yes. We prioritize organic and naturally derived products throughout the shop. Our fertilizers, soil amendments, and pest control options are all organic or OMRI-listed where available. We don't stock synthetic pesticides. If you have specific certifications or requirements for a commercial growing operation, let us know and we'll make sure we're pointing you to the right products.
Absolutely. Bring your plant back to the shop, send us a photo by email, or call during store hours and one of our staff will do their best to help. Every plant we sell comes with a basic care card. For more detailed guidance on specific issues, our free monthly plant clinic (first Saturday of each month) is a great resource. No appointment needed.
Sometimes. If you're looking for a specific variety we don't typically carry, call or email and describe what you want. If we can source it from one of our growers, we'll let you know timing and pricing. We can't promise to fill every special request, but we try. For large landscape projects requiring specific quantities and varieties, contact us early in the season — late fall or winter is ideal for spring delivery.
Yes. Gift cards are available in any amount at the shop. They work for everything we sell: plants, soil, tools, pottery, workshops, and services. They don't expire. We don't sell them online, but you can call ahead and we can set one aside for pickup if you're in a hurry.
