Where Good Times Pour

A proper neighborhood pub. Real draught beer, food made in our kitchen, and a room full of people who actually know each other. The Copper Rail has been part of this street for nearly four decades.

Our Story

The Rail That Started It All

The original copper bar rail is still here. You can see it when you walk in. It's worn smooth in the spots where regulars rest their elbows every night. That rail has been here since Pat Callahan opened this place in 1987, and it's not going anywhere.

We're not a cocktail lounge or a sports bar or a craft beer destination. We're a pub. We do draught pints, proper food, and good company. That's always been enough.

What's On Tap

Sixteen handles, always changing. Here's a look at what we're pouring right now. Ask your bartender what just kicked.

01
Copper Lager
American Lager
Clean, crisp, and cold. Our house lager has been brewed by Marlowe Street Brewing next door since 2003. Light grain, a hint of floral hop, and a dry finish.
4.5% ABV $7
02
Rail Porter
English Porter
Dark as the bar at closing time. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, and a faint coffee note. The first sip is a slow one. This is meant to be savored.
5.8% ABV $8
03
Session IPA
Session IPA
Citrus-forward and bitterly honest. A West Coast IPA built for drinking more than one. Bright grapefruit on the nose, clean and dry on the finish.
4.2% ABV $8
04
Red Hand Ale
Irish Red Ale
A nod to the old country. Deep amber, malty and smooth with a slight caramel sweetness. Pat's personal favorite and still our second-best seller.
5.2% ABV $7
05
Hefeweizen
Bavarian Wheat
Cloudy, golden, and smelling of banana and clove. We serve it in a tall, proper weizen glass with a slice of orange if you want one. No judgment if you don't.
5.4% ABV $8
06
Midnight Stout
Oatmeal Stout
Silky smooth oatmeal stout with notes of espresso and dark toffee. Full-bodied but not heavy. The kind of beer you drink when the weather turns.
6.1% ABV $8

I've been coming in on Monday nights since 2011. I know every bartender's name, they know my order, and somehow that never gets old. It's the best $7 pint in the city.

We had our engagement party in the back room. The staff were incredible, the food was exactly what we asked for, and the bill came in under what we'd budgeted. Still tell people about it.

The Rail Porter is the best thing on the menu. I've had it at a hundred bars trying to find something that comes close. Nothing does. Come for the beer, stay because you don't want to leave.
