Sixteen years of dedicated practice rooted in the classical traditions of Chinese medicine, guided by a commitment to whole-person care.
Dr. Lin Wei has spent sixteen years studying, practicing, and refining the classical arts of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her approach is both deeply traditional and rigorously modern.
After completing her undergraduate studies in biology at UC Davis, Dr. Wei pursued her Master of Science in Oriental Medicine at Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, graduating at the top of her class. She went on to earn her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) with a clinical specialization in pain management and women's reproductive health.
She completed advanced clinical residencies in both Shanghai and Chengdu, China, where she trained alongside senior physicians in large hospital outpatient departments. That experience gave her a breadth of clinical exposure few practitioners in the United States have had. She has worked with thousands of patients across the full spectrum of TCM conditions, from complex chronic disease to acute musculoskeletal injury.
Dr. Wei opened Meridian Acupuncture & Wellness in 2008 with a clear philosophy: treat the whole person, not the condition. She currently serves over 400 active patients and continues to pursue advanced continuing education each year. She is a member of the California Acupuncture Association and the American Society of Acupuncturists.
At Meridian, treatment begins with listening. Every body is different, every pattern is unique, and every treatment plan is built from scratch around the individual in front of us.
We don't chase symptoms. TCM diagnosis identifies the underlying pattern of imbalance and addresses it directly. When the root is treated, symptoms resolve and stay resolved.
Sleep, digestion, emotional wellbeing, and physical pain are all interconnected. We look at all of them together, because the body rarely suffers in isolation.
Dr. Wei combines classical TCM knowledge with an ongoing awareness of contemporary clinical research. Ancient wisdom does not conflict with modern science. They inform each other.
We work alongside your existing medical team. Dr. Wei regularly communicates with referring physicians and welcomes co-management of complex cases with Western medicine specialists.
Healing is not linear. We revisit your care plan regularly, adjust as your body changes, and never push you toward treatments you're not ready for. You are always in the driver's seat.
Our goal is not just to get you out of pain. It's to help you build resilience, understand your own body's signals, and maintain balance well beyond your time with us.
The Meridian clinic was designed to be a sanctuary. Located in the Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco, our suite occupies the third floor of a Edwardian building with natural light and quiet far from street noise.
The treatment rooms are private and unhurried. We schedule appointments with enough time between patients that you never feel rushed. Soft textiles, warm light, and botanical accents create an environment where your nervous system can genuinely settle before treatment even begins.
We use only sterile, single-use, filiform needles. All cupping and Gua Sha tools are sterilized between every use. The clinic is scrupulously maintained and fully compliant with California Department of Public Health standards.
Ample street parking is available on Pacific Avenue, and the clinic is a five-minute walk from the California Street cable car line.
After booking, you'll receive a detailed health history form by email. Completing it before your visit allows Dr. Wei to review your background in advance and makes your initial 75-minute appointment more productive.
Please eat a light meal two hours before your appointment. Avoid caffeine immediately before your visit. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your arms, legs, and abdomen. Leave perfume and strong scents at home.
We verify insurance at your first visit. Bring your insurance card, a valid photo ID, and any relevant lab results or imaging reports if you have them. We'll handle the pre-authorization paperwork on your behalf where required.
Your initial appointment is unhurried. The consultation takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes, followed by your first treatment. You may feel deeply relaxed afterward. Build in time to rest afterwards if possible — many patients choose to schedule these visits on a lighter day.
We work with most major insurance providers. Coverage for acupuncture services varies by plan. We recommend calling your insurance carrier before your first visit to confirm your acupuncture benefits. Our front desk is happy to assist you with any questions.
Don't see your carrier listed? Contact us and we'll check your specific plan.
Your initial consultation is a conversation, not a commitment. Come with your questions and leave with a clear understanding of how TCM can support your health goals.
